You may also have access to online tools to manage your level of participation.
You can choose to use separate programs that work with the Service (“Programs”) to edit and augment your individual user profile. Programs can help you manage your information and find information and other people relevant to your interests.
You can choose to share specific information (or all information) with:
- Other people (such as your friends and other users)
- Programs (such as travel plans, newsletters, blogs and podcasts)
Registration
In order to use this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed interest. It is optional for the user to provide some demographic information, but encouraged so we can provide a more personalized experience on our site.
An account allows you to manage your user profile. You choose what information enters into your profile, newsletters, blogs or podcasts. Examples of the types of information you can store in your user profile:
- Your choice of friends, patients & professional contacts to communicate with.
- Your travel and medical experience tips for others, including your trusted medical resources, favorite environments for healing vacations, or places you are considering for a 2nd home or retirement lifestyle.
You can use Programs to search for and participate in a wide range and variety of conversations with patients, travelers, expatriates and medical care professionals. You can give Programs permission to view, add, modify, and/or delete information you have entered. Please refer to the privacy statements of those Programs for information about their privacy policies, and about how your information will be used by those Programs.
By default, you are the custodian of any user profile, conversation, blog or podcast you create or post. A custodian has full control over their own entry, including who else gets to view and modify the conversation. Some of the information you choose to share may be highly sensitive, so you need to consider carefully with whom you choose to share the information.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use personal information collected through the Service, including health information, to provide the Service, and as described in this privacy statement.
In support of these uses, T4H may use personal information:
- to provide you with important information about the Service, including critical updates and notifications
- to send you the T4H e-mail newsletter, blog or podcast if you opt-in
- to determine your interests and previous medical or expatriate experiences to help determine what information might be of interest to you.
We partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services.
These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
T4H may access and/or disclose your personal information if we believe such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or legal process served on T4H; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of T4H (including the enforcement of our agreements); or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety and welfare of users of T4H services or members of the public.
Personal information collected on the Service may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which T4H or its affiliates, subsidiaries, or agents maintain facilities, and by using the Service, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of the U.S. The Service may be used only in the U.S.
Supplementation of Information
In order for this website to properly fulfill its obligation to our customers, it is necessary for us to supplement the information we receive with information from 3rd party sources.
Special Offers
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Established members will occasionally receive informational contacts. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see the choice and opt-out in the edit profile area under privacy.
We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners, but this is generally unlikely. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
Site and Service Updates
We also send the user site and service announcement updates. Members are not able to un-subscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with the user to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via email.
Sharing
A key value of the Service is the ability to share your personal experiences and opinions with people and services who can help you meet your lifestyle goals and medical needs. For example, you can share your personal experiences, interests and opinions from pages you control, i.e. your user profile.
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user’s personal data provided to us. This can usually be done at the member information page or by emailing our Customer Support.
Choice and Opt-out
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or materials from our partners may opt-out of receiving these communications by changing their privacy settings in the edit profile area on the site.
Users of our site are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party, or not.
Links
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we Traveling4Health, Inc. are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.
Security of Your Personal Information
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/verification/contribution forms ask users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – SSL. While on a secure page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected screen-savers when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to your information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. As often as possible, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers’ information is protected. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment at our co-location facility.
If you have any questions about the security at our website, please contact us.
Use of Cookies
We use cookies with this Service to enable you to sign in and to help personalize the Service. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can be read only by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. For example, if you personalize a Web page, or navigate within a site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. Using cookies simplifies the process of delivering relevant content, eases site navigation, and so on. When you return to the Web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the site’s features that you customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline some or all cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline all cookies, you may not be able to use interactive features of this or other Web sites that depend on cookies.
Use of Web Beacons
T4H Web pages may contain electronic images known as Web beacons – sometimes called single-pixel gifs – that may be used:
- to assist in delivering cookies on our sites
- to enable us to count users who have visited those pages
- to deliver co-branded services
We may include Web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or in our newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon. T4H may also employ Web beacons from third parties to help us compile aggregated statistics and determine the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns. We prohibit Web beacons on our sites from being used by third parties to collect or access your personal information. We may collect information about your visit to Traveling4Health.com, including the pages you view, the links you click, and other actions taken in connection with the Service. We also collect certain standard, non-personally identifiable information that your browser sends to every Web site you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times, and referring Web site addresses.
Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may occasionally update this privacy statement. When we do, we will also revise the “last updated” date at the top of the privacy statement. For material changes to this privacy statement, we will notify you either by placing a prominent notice on the home page of the T4H Web site or by sending you a notification directly. We encourage you to periodically review this privacy statement to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. Your continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to this privacy statement and any updates. Please be aware that this privacy statement and any choices you make on the Service do not necessarily apply to personal information you may have provided to T4H in the context of other, separately operated, T4H products or services.
