A Strong Recommendation From a Previously Disgruntled Patient

Sani Dental Group, in Los Algodones, Mexico gets a “thumbs up” from a previously disgruntled patient.
That’s the value of the internet – that companies and people who care and want to be fair will “right a perceived wrong” to their mutual satisfaction.
Good work Sani Dental. I know the management well, and I have always had a good experience there.
To that end I was delighted to receive the following email from a previously disgruntled patient:
The Story
Dear Ilene;
My name is [redacted], but you have referenced the website I created under the pen name Danielle Maine on your traveling4health website. sanidentalmexico-disaster.com. [since removed]
As Victor Jimenez has been in touch with me during the last month, and we have come to an amicable reconciliation, I would ask your kind assistance in removing any non-beneficial reference to Sani-Dental as a result of myself.
Carlos did offer to fix any problems that I had, and suggested that I return for this work, stay at their hotel while there, but by that time, I was unfortunately, completely unwilling to return.
I have always been of mixed minds having created that website, because I like them!, but I wanted them to do the right thing, that being to share in the outcome, which they now have. We can move on.
During my initial visit, I very much appreciated Carlos and their dental team, and could see their eager desire to give me what I was there for, namely 14 new crowns. In five days, though? How naive was I to think that this was realistic for me.
There is something to be learned on both sides of this story, and I believe we are both learning what that is. Namely, that Canadians, or any others, who come to Mexico, lured by being able to do it for so much less, should not be putting these clinics under unrealistic pressures either.
Many Canadians that I know are very happy with Sani Dental, and that is why I chose them in the first time. It is time to restore their good image in the community. I hope you will remove any references created by myself, under my pen name Danielle Maine.
I told Victor that I would be writing to you and any others on the internet that have referenced my story, and that is why I am cc’ing him.
Thank you, Ilene, for your help with this.
Sincerely,
Danielle Maine
Cultural Awareness – Be Careful What You Ask For
An important take-away from this story is for dental tourists is to be careful what they ask for – because it’s part of the Mexican culture to give you what you ask for, e.g., more work in one setting than the doctor would recommend. “They want to make you happy, so they try to squeeze it all in” said Danielle, “it’s about pride.”
A Positive for Both Patients and Providers
Traveling4Health is all about reporting “personal experience”. That’s the whole point; that providers who treat patients well will have access to a loyal client base, and those that don’t – well, you can run, but you can’t hide. Most providers realize that transparency of customer reviews is a good thing; that it gives a business a chance to improve their service and prove that they are responsive to any conflict resolution.
I am personally delighted that the good people at sanidentalgroup.com now have a satisfied patient who will recommend, rather than denounce them.
