Finding a Dentist in Mexico You Can Pay Under the Table

As one Traveling4Health member reports, “It’s Mexico . . . and they are even more dedicated to not paying taxes than many Americans.”
A happy patron, for years, of a dental clinic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, she said, “One time Dr. [name redacted] actually asked us to make the entire check out to one of his vendors, totally bypassing him in the “monies received” process.”
“A couple times we’ve made the check out to his wife,” she said.
When the couple first bought a 2nd home in Puerto Vallarta, they found a dentist they were happy with and, as a result, have patronized this same dentist in Mexico for over 10 years.
“He has a very modern, clean office in the Marina district and we have simply never had any problem on any level,” reports the patient.
“Early this year my husband’s procedure took several visits and our dentist was always there, always on time and when we reminded him we wanted a cleaning too, he included that at no charge,” she said.
“There is a newer guy in the office, can’t remember his name, but he did some work on my teeth a couple years ago and he was also very good,” she said, “He had told me the whole thing would cost about $550 and when he was done he just kind of looked in my mouth, counted “one, two, three ah, okay, that’s $325. Like I said, it’s Mexico.”
