A Hotel in Costa Rica Leaves a Lasting Impression

Surrounded by beauty is the essence of Hotel Bougainvillea in Santo Domingo, Costa Rica

Homemade chicken soup served with chamomile tea goes a long way towards making you feel good when you’re not feeling well – especially when delivered with a smile to your hotel room and free of charge.

Can anyone else say they’ve had that kind of service; assuming you’re just a regular Joe and not a “Head of State” guest?

That was one of two kind gestures that I will remember about my stay as a guest at the luxury Hotel Bougainvillea in Santa Domingo, Costa Rica.

My other memory was equally impressive.

I was feeling so poorly that I decided I might need to go to the doctor; just to make sure what I was experiencing was the flu and not something more drastic. My husband called the front desk and inquired about a doctor – and within 20 minutes two EMT’s showed up at our door.

I wasn’t presenting with any symptoms that required emergency assistance, I basically required a fever reducer and something for pain and discomfort – and I got that all without having to leave the comfort of bed. Can you believe the hotel picked up the charge for that visit?

I should mention that my husband had chosen this hotel just for its comfy beds – okay, and for the acres of manicured gardens that the hotel is best known for.

But who would have thought “guest services” would include an urgent care house call?

By the next morning I was feeling well enough to enjoy the grounds and take some pictures of the beautiful hotel.

In more ways than physical beauty and comfort, the Hotel Bougainvillea is a resort hotel that offers a home-away-from-home to weary travelers. 

The hotel is within minutes from the international airport and on the outskirts of San Jose. 

Note to medical tourists – if you don’t want to recuperate in the heat of the beach – I can’t think of a better place to recouperate and relax before flying home than this hotel.
